Mr. Arnold Roxas, City Health representative, joyfully announced the results of the recent water testing conducted last April 2023. According to the findings, all water samples from Calapan Water Wells have passed the by-product petroleum parameter, providing evidence that its water is free from hazardous oil-based chemicals. The Department of Health (DOH) expressed its gratitude to Calapan Water for its warm welcome and for extending the invitation to conduct the aforementioned inspection and testing of water from Calapan Water’s deep wells. Calapan Water has proven its commitment to providing high-quality water and excellent service to the city of Calapan.
The onset of El Niño has been felt this month of June 2023. According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Philippines may experience El Niño starting from June- August-September 2023, and it may persist until 2024.
The management of Calapan Water together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Tamaraw Fire Volunteer Brigade (TFVB), and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD), held a meeting on 12 May 2023, at the Calapan Water office to ensure an adequate number and proper placement of existing fire hydrants.
Currently, there are twenty-nine (29) fire hydrants located in various barangays of Calapan City, which are sufficient to ensure the safety of residents in the event of a fire. The discussion also included plans for additional hydrants to further strengthen preparedness and response during disasters.
Calapan Water is committed to working together and being actively involved in the city’s readiness for fire emergencies.
Calapan Water has expanded its project to help uplift the livelihood of deserving families. Collaborating with the LikasDiwa Foundation Inc., Calapan Water launched the Scholarship Program. It aims to assist academically excellent students who lack the financial means to complete their education due to budget constraints.
It is worth noting that many students have already been educated by the company. Some of them have successfully graduated and are now employed in Calapan Water’s sister company. It is expected that in the coming year, two scholars will complete their engineering courses and will be included in the list of successful scholars sponsored by Calapan Water. Currently, Calapan Water continues to accept applications from qualified students who wish to become part of the company’s scholarship program.
This endeavor by Calapan Water serves as proof that they bring progress to every household they serve.
The management of Calapan Water promptly reached out to the Oriental Mindoro government under the leadership of Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor to assist the affected towns due to the sinking of MT Princess Empress in the western part of Oriental Mindoro, which caused extensive damage to the sea due to the oil spill.
In the face of this tragedy, Calapan Water, the primary water provider in the town of Calapan, demonstrated its concern for the affected residents of Oriental Mindoro. Using their water tanker, the company delivered free clean water to ensure that the residents of Pola and Naujan, who were severely affected by the oil spill, had access to safe drinking water.

Furthermore, the Coastal Clean-Up covering approximately 500 meters of coastline in Barangay Batuhan, Pola, Oriental Mindoro, organized by Calapan Water, Ormin Power, and LikasDiwa Foundation, was also successful and attended by many employees of these organizations. The immediate response and assistance provided by the management of Calapan Water at all times demonstrate their readiness to serve, support, and be responsive to those in need.
The radio live discussion of Calapan Water on DWOM FM 105.5 has resumed reporting on water programs that address the needs of Calapan City.
After several months of being engaged in various programs, the live discussion returned to DWOM FM 105.5 on 30 March 2023, from 10:30 to 11:00 in the morning hosted by DJ Rakie. Joining her were Sales and Marketing Supervisor, Ms. Sheena Landicho, Corporate Affairs, and Communications Head, Ms. Lily Iferlonica Estepa, and two department staff members, Mr. Jeric Romblon and Ms. Ethel Bilano.
The program covered all the activities of Calapan Water to ensure an adequate water supply and excellent service. It also featured announcements of promotions to make water connections affordable for everyone.

On March 22-24, 2023 representatives from Calapan Water, Ms. Kaye Therese Balmes from the Quality Assurance Department, and Ms. Ruscien Derije from the Operations Department attended the International Conference and Exhibition, themed “Securing Water Access Through Partnership Towards More Resilient Water Services” at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
This three-day conference and exhibit brought together various water companies from within and outside the country, sharing their technologies and innovations aimed at improving water systems and filtration. The company’s staff also had the opportunity to meet water experts from different countries such as Japan, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and California, and learn from their methods of enhancing water systems and services.
The said conference and exhibit were witnessed by President Ferdinand Marchos Jr., who emphasized that the Philippines is currently facing a water crisis and we need to find solutions to address it. He mentioned the establishment of an office that will oversee water systems as a response to this crisis. "When they say water is life, it's not just a cliché. It's a truism, and it's something we must always keep in mind," he stated, encouraging all companies to create comprehensive plans on how we can utilize the water we have in a meaningful way for the future.

Over the past months, Calapan Water (CW) has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to ensuring the quality of water through extensive testing of service areas and water sources. Together with representatives from each barangay, Calapan Water collected water samples and brought them to Alpha Laboratory, an accredited laboratory by the Department of Health, for Physicochemical and Microbiological testing following the mandates of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Health (DOH).
The results of these tests, conducted from January 2023 to June 2023, have shown that the water quality meets the standards set by the aforementioned agencies. Within the first six months of the year, Calapan Water successfully ensured the fulfillment and assurance of the quality and safety of the water they provide to their customers.
As part of CW’s responsibility, it is crucial to ensure that the supplied water is clean and safe for the health and well-being of its customers. The result of the testing indicates that CW’s water is safe to drink and complies with the guidelines of the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
In this manner, Calapan Water continuously proves its leadership and dedication to providing clean, safe, and affordable water for the community of Calapan.
The construction of an additional 1,000 cubic meters of water storage facility has commenced to meet the demand for sufficient and clean water supply for the people of Calapan. Despite facing numerous obstacles, the Calapan Water management did not hesitate to build a road leading up the mountain in Barangay Lumangbayan, reaching an elevated height of 65 meters above ground level. This project will ensure that water remains clean, abundant, and with appropriate pressure in every household.
This year, the construction of two (2) additional deep wells in Barangays Puting Tubig and Biga has also commenced to ensure an ample water supply for all households at all times.
Currently, Calapan Water has established fifteen (15) filter media in several pumping stations to maintain the high quality and cleanliness of the water. Simultaneously, they continue to embrace modern technology to guarantee uninterrupted and excellent service for everyone.
Approximately 2.1 kilometers of additional pipelines, ranging from 200mm to 400mm in diameter, are set to be laid this year to deliver clean water to every household.
